Welcome to the wild-wild North
A week in Northern Norway with a small handpicked group, chasing northern lights, sharing warm meals, and heading into the water with orcas in one of the wildest places on earth.
Itinerary
Day 1: Tromsø Arrival & Lyngen Alps
Arrive in Tromsø and begin with a scenic drive through Arctic fjords and mountains into the Lyngen Alps. Settle into an authentic Norwegian-style cabin by the water and let the north slow you down.
Day 2: Sami Culture & Ice Fishing
Spend the day with local Sami culture, stories, reindeer traditions, and a quiet ice-fishing experience surrounded by winter landscapes. A calm, meaningful day with warm food, local voices, and time to take it all in.
Day 3: Snowshoeing, Sauna & Northern Lights
Walk gently through the snow on a guided snowshoe route before returning to the warmth of the sauna. After dinner, we keep the evening open for northern lights under the quiet Arctic sky.
Day 4: Scenic Transfer to Seglvik
Travel north by scenic road and ferry, crossing fjords and remote Arctic coastline on the way to Seglvik. Settle into our ocean base, prepare gear, and ease into the rhythm of the whale days ahead.
Days 5–7: Orca Waters, Food & Photography
Three full days on the water from Seglvik, searching for orcas and humpbacks as they move with the winter herring. Between sea sessions, enjoy thoughtful local meals, warm recovery time, and photography workshops so you can stay present while the story is captured with care.
What our travelers say

Seeing orcas in the wild in the fjords is already hard to put into words. But what stayed with me just as much was the atmosphere!!! The guides knew exactly what they were doing, the group was brilliant, and every evening back at base felt like a proper gathering. Special trip

Not included

Flights, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included. We're happy to help with flight recommendations and travel insurance tips before your trip.

Best way to get there?

Fly into Tromsø Airport. From there, we take care of the rest: the scenic drive into the Lyngen Alps, the onward road and ferry journey to Seglvik, and your return transfer to Tromsø Airport at the end of the trip. You don’t need to rent a car or plan local transport yourself, that’s part of what we handle, so you can simply arrive and settle into the north. For international travellers, we recommend keeping your final flight flexible or adding one night in Tromsø after the expedition, as January weather and ferry timings can shift.

Will we see the Northern lights?

January is a beautiful month for northern lights in Northern Norway. The region is dark for long hours, and the aurora season around Tromsø generally runs from September until early April. The lights are a natural phenomenon, so they can never be guaranteed, but clear, dark skies give us the best chance. We keep several evenings open in Lyngen and Seglvik, away from heavy light pollution, so the northern lights can become part of the journey naturally rather than a rushed extra activity.

Suitable for non-swimmers?

Yes, non-swimmers can still join the journey — but they should join the orca days as boat-based whale watchers, not as in-water participants. The Arctic ocean is cold, wild, and safety-led. To enter the water with orcas, guests must be good swimmers and comfortable in the water, and the crew always has the final say based on conditions and training. All water entry is optional. Non-swimmers can still experience the whales from the boat, join the photography workshops, enjoy the food, sauna, Sami culture, landscapes, and the full rhythm of the expedition without pressure.
